How to become a Woking Street Angel

There are about 40 trained and active Woking Street Angels, but to maintain our valued work on the streets of Woking in the future we urgently need new volunteers.  If you are over 18 years of age and are interested in joining us, or just want more information, please read the information on this web site, and contact our co-ordinator.

If you do wish to apply to join us you will be asked to fill in an application form and then attend an interview. Please   download the form here and either mail it to The Co-ordinator, Woking Street Angels, Woking Borough Council, Civic Offices, Gloucester Square, Woking, Surrey GU21 6YL, or scan it and email it to

After the interview process, successful reference take-up and a DBS check, new volunteers receive comprehensive training to prepare for the role of Street Angels. The training covers six key topics:

  • Values and Know Your Town

  • Relating Effectively

  • Personal Safety

  • Drugs and Alcohol Awareness

  • Safeguarding

  • Woking Working Practices.

There are two training programmes per year.

Applicants are also invited to come out on a shift with us to experience exactly what we do. Street Angels always patrol in teams of two or three and are constantly in touch with Woking CCTV via radios. They always have mandatory rest periods through the night.

If you are interested in joining Woking Street Angels do please get in touch.
