Woking Street Angels Co ordinator Role

Job Description

Job Purpose

To take responsibility for the management and co-ordination of the Street Angels work in Woking. The post is a response to Woking Borough Council and churches in Woking to provide care and practical help for vulnerable people on the streets of the town centre and railway station on Friday and Saturday nights.
 

Accountability

The Co-ordinator is accountable and reports to Woking Street Angels trustees who will ensure that the post holder has adequate support and training to undertake the role. Day to day management will be allocated to two trustees who will meet with the co-ordinator every four to six weeks.
 

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To coordinate and lead in the recruitment, checking, training, deployment and ongoing support of the volunteer Street Angels in conjunction with the trustees.

  • To believe in the mission of Woking Street Angels and communicate with volunteer Street Angels to keep them motivated and engaged.

  • To carry out all administrative duties including:

    • monitor and maintenance of the volunteers’ duty rota and ensure adequate Street Angel availability for each shift

    • arrange adequate supply of material and equipment for each shift

    • manage payments to suppliers

    • issue receipts with thanks for all monies received (bank transfers, cash and cheques)

    • organise availability of uniforms and security passes.

  • To follow Woking Street Angels policies and procedures including keep and maintain records.

  • To work in partnership with Surrey Police, Woking Borough Council and other town centre and referral agencies, this includes attendance at the Joint Agency Group (JAG) meetings.

  • To uphold the values of Woking Street Angels (selflessness, being non-judgemental, honesty, integrity, professionalism, excellence, collaboration and partnership).

  • To work with the Trustees to ensure that Street Angel volunteers adhere to the code of conduct and other policies and procedures adopted by the Charity, including the requirement for safeguarding children and adults at risk.

  • To help develop and implement strategies to promote Woking Street Angels, including presentations on the work of Street Angels in a variety of contexts, e.g., churches, police, local council.

  • To support the Trustees in managing the funds needed for the work of Woking Street Angels. This includes providing reports to donors and others on operational activities and expenditure and help with fund-raising when requested.

  • To regularly report to the Trustees on progress and keeping them aware of any issues that need their attention.

  • To produce regular reports for the various stakeholders and agencies.

  • To ensure feedback and incident reports are completed by the team leader after each Street Angels shift.

  • To facilitate the prayer support between Street Angels and the Churches of Woking.

  • To highlight any personal development training needed in the performance of the Co-ordinator role.

  • To advise trustees when it is considered that the Woking Street Angels website and social media should to be updated.

  • To collate and clarify the details of any allegations or suspicions of abuse received from Street Angels in relation to people they help and to confirm with Surrey Police information that they will pass this on to Children’s Services or Adult Social Care.

  • To maintain the security of all data on their computer systems and keep personal data (e.g. records related to Street Angels) in a secure place.

  • Desirable, though not essential, would be to maintain and update the Woking Street Angels website (currently Wix-based).

 

Location and hours of work

The Co-ordinator will work either from the Street Angels allocated office (currently at Woking Borough Council offices) or from home.  This is a part-time role of 20 hours per week and will mainly be undertaken during the ‘normal’ working day.  Some work outside those hours may be required, e.g., attendance at Trustees’ meetings or giving an evening presentation to stakeholders. The co-ordinator will accompany the Street Angels at work as considered necessary by the trustees.

Benefits

This is a paid position dependent on skills and experience, which is reviewed following 3 months’ probation and annually by the Trustees. No overtime rate will apply.

A holiday entitlement of 112 hours per annum (pro-rata for part year worked), will apply.  Where a public holiday coincides with a normal working day, this can be taken on another day in the week instead or as paid leave.

Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed, and training provided where necessary. A laptop computer and mobile phone will be provided.
